Attuned Core Protocol Suite

Developed by Attuned Neurofeedback and Psychotherapy of NJ (ANPNJ), the Attuned Core Protocol Suite is informed by over 40 years of combined clinical experience and reflects decades of applied neurofeedback work in real-world settings.

The suite is organized around functional patterns clinicians commonly see in practice, including arousal imbalances, trauma-related dysregulation, somatic symptoms, and challenges with attention and executive functioning. Each protocol includes clearly defined starting placements and frequency ranges, guided by neuroanatomical targets such as the motor strip, temporal lobes, parietal regions, and midline networks.

Designed for practical clinical use, the protocols provide reliable starting points that support efficient decision-making, while allowing flexibility to adjust in real time based on individual client response. This balance makes the suite applicable across a wide range of presentations—from more straightforward cases to complex, layered clinical work.

The suite includes protocols for:

The Attuned Neurofeedback Method

Grounded in foundational trauma research, the Attuned Neurofeedback Method provides a clinically informed framework for optimizing outcomes with neurofeedback. Developed from over 40 years of applied clinical experience, the method reflects the integration of neurofeedback with established therapeutic approaches for working with trauma and nervous system dysregulation.

Rather than positioning neurofeedback as a standalone intervention, the Attuned Method guides clinicians in how to thoughtfully incorporate it into broader treatment frameworks—supporting more consistent, measurable, and clinically meaningful change. The approach continues to be refined through ongoing clinical application and research.

What began as a focused group of clinicians dedicated to advancing applications for calming the fear-driven brain has grown into a global network of clinicians, researchers, and educators. ANPNJ is at the forefront of neurofeedback education and clinical application, offering programs that combine didactic learning, hands-on training, and mentorship from experienced clinicians—supporting practitioners in confidently integrating neurofeedback into their work.

Built by Clinicians. Refined Through Practice

The Attuned Core Protocol Suite is shaped by the clinical vision of Clair L. Goldberg, PsyD, BCN and Leanne Hershkowitz, LPC, QEEG-D, BCN, leaders in trauma-informed neurofeedback, 4-channel Multivariate Coherence Training, and clinical integration.

As a founding member of the Attuned Neurofeedback Model, Dr. Goldberg has helped advance approaches that move beyond symptom management to address underlying patterns of the fear-driven brain. Drawing on extensive clinical experience, she is a leader in integrating neurofeedback with depth-oriented and trauma-focused modalities, including Deep Brain Reorienting. Together with Leanne Hershkowitz, whose expertise spans QEEG, training, and applied neurofeedback, they bring a combined depth of experience in integrating neurofeedback into therapeutic practice.

This work led to the creation of ANPNJ—a center for clinical innovation, education, and mentorship. Through their learning platform, they train clinicians to combine technical precision with an attuned therapeutic presence.

The Attuned Core Protocol Suite brings this model into the Divergence Neuro platform in a clear, user-friendly format—making it accessible, practical, and effective for both experienced providers and those new to neurofeedback.
