Hitting Stride - 5 Years of Divergence Neuro

A reflection on our journey, our work, and the future of mental health care

Five years ago, Divergence Neuro was born in a world that looked very different than today’s. The pandemic took hold of most aspects of our lives. We lived in a strange world of social distancing and fear in which many were unable to go to a physical clinic to receive the care they needed in person. The state of our collective mental health was rapidly deteriorating and we had one clear calling: mobilize neurofeedback service with quality and choice so more can access it.

It is hard to believe that we have been at this for 5 whole years already. Today, as I look back on this journey, I am deeply grateful—for our team, our customers, our partners, and the vision we get to continue to build together. What started during the uncertainty of a global pandemic has now become a leading global platform serving hundreds of clinicians and thousands of clients across continents. We started building the platform with little more than our passion and close to no resources, but we had a dream that one day more people would be able to utilize neurofeedback from the convenience of their homes under the guidance of their providers with a platform that can truly meet their needs. Along the journey we were joined by many wonderful colleagues, collaborators, and partners from all over the world. Our team also grew steadily in lock-step with the growth of our platform’s capabilities and user base.

We were able to deliver concrete, measurable results to our customers and their clients by transforming how neurofeedback is provided as a service, and our customers are growing with us in significant ways they have never imagined before.

Major Accomplishments Last Year

To say 2025 has been our most prolific year would be an understatement. In the past 12 months, we have delivered remarkable results for our customers and their clients by providing them with innovative technology and extraordinary service.

💡 Growing Customer Success

We have produced significant growth and positive outcomes for our clinical customers by servicing them well and helping grow their capacity to service their clients:

  • The total number of clients using our remote neurofeedback app increased by 72%
  • We saw a 52% increase in our total clinical user base within the past 12 months
  • The average clinic’s capacity to serve clients on our platform increased by 28%
  • The average attrition rate among customers has been reduced to <2%
  • Over 250,000 neurofeedback sessions have been clocked on our platform since launch, 40% of which came from the past year
  • Active clinical users grew steadily and our customer base has expanded across more than 15 countries

Beyond the metrics, we have seen a large increase in clinics that traditionally only offered in-clinic neurofeedback service being able to offer remote neurofeedback with our solution during the last year. This enablement helped thousands of clients receive care consistently and in the comfort of their home.

🚀 Product Innovation

  • Dragon Path – the first active neurofeedback game to hit our platform has been developed this year in collaboration with Busy Eye Games. This game is the first of its kind delivering an active neurofeedback experience using the elements in nature in a story to help players develop self-regulation skills.
  • HRV integration – injecting heart rate, HRV measures into neurofeedback protocols enabling clinicians to monitor and train with HRV, taking the platform from pure neurofeedback into a multi-modal, biofeedback era.
  • Facial-scan stress detection – using the front-facing camera of the phone for non-invasive, real-time stress tracking supported by AI and deep neural network, developed by Mobio, to accurately assess the objective stress level of a client.
  • Static thresholding – an option, giving practitioners more control on how feedback thresholds are set and managed.
  • Peak alpha detection – giving clinicians the tools to help unlock new insights by looking at peak frequency in the alpha range. The PAF (peak alpha frequency) is often associated with cognitive performance, memory, fatigue, and neurological disruption.
  • Breathing guidesanimated guided respiratory pacing exercises integrated into sessions.

These core technological innovations enabled clinics to better leverage the power of remote biofeedback and neurofeedback in the fields of mental health and performance coaching around the world.

📊 Platform Improvements

  • Multi User Support – more nuanced and secure operator management of the clinical population allowing multiple operators with different roles and privileges to manage a client population.
  • Device AdditionsSynchroni Trio, Pento, and BrainBit Flex8 devices added to our expanding ecosystem to enrich the experience of customers and clients by enabling ECG and EEG data collection simultaneously, enabling multi-modal biofeedback to be done easily.
  • Stronger Security – more secure and scalable login, session, and identity management through core security upgrades.

These platform improvements not only increased the stability of our platform, but made it more secure, and compliant to the most stringent of security standards such as GDPR and HIPAA. We have also been continuing to expand the number of mobile devices that work with the platform to bring our users more choices and greater capabilities. This ongoing effort is an important reason why we have been able to serve our fast-growing customer base while releasing a number of exciting new features.

The Market is Catching Up

Beyond our accomplishments as a team, perhaps the more exciting aspect is that the world is waking up to the power of biometrics.

  • Apple has filed a patent to embed EEG sensors in future AirPods. This patent indicates that the wearable technology Apple might be developing is capable of measuring a user’s biological signals, including but not limited to EEG, EMG, and EOG. This indicates a strong interest from big tech to enter into the market of biometrically driven apps for health monitoring, assessment, and potentially even intervention.
  • Meta launched its Neural band that controls the Meta Ray-Ban display by translating hand gestures to control signals for immersive metaverse applications. This move signals a substantial investment from Meta since its acquisition of Ctrl-Labs in 2019 in the area of neurotech and brain-machine interface (BCI).
  • Synchron, which develops a minimally invasive BCI (a stent-like electrode placed via vascular access), recently integrated Nvidia’s Holoscan AI platform into its system and demonstrated compatibility with the Apple Vision Pro for user interface control. A participant with ALS used the system to control home devices (lighting, music, etc.) purely via thought. The intersection of BCI, AI, and spatial/AR interfaces is already being built. Big tech and hardware layers are converging around BCI as a control modality.

These are signals of a larger trend: big tech is embedding themselves into BCI / neural interface domains which means that this technology is becoming a fundamental piece of the infrastructure — not a fringe tool. Advanced biometric acquisition, processing, and analysis will soon be as common in daily life as smartphones are today. Divergence is positioned at the heart of this transformation—becoming the platform that makes sense of biometric data across devices and contexts. Our strategy of being a cross-biometric integrator (EEG, HRV, EMG, GSR, etc.) is aligned with where the entire industry is going.

Our long-term value is clear: the data and insights we collect are not just therapeutic tools, but the foundation for the next era of human-technology interaction that powers many different applications and facets of our day-to-day lives.

Our Mission Forward

At our core, Divergence is more than just a neurofeedback platform. We are building a connected ecosystem that links biometric signals (EEG, HRV, GSR, EMG, respiration, and more) with human behavior and environment – turning raw data into meaningful insights to help more people improve their quality of life and work.

  • For therapists, this means the ability to deliver more effective, scalable care using state-of-art tools and evidence-based, non-pharmacological interventions with better data and reporting.
  • For patients, it means access to affordable, engaging, and effective forms of interventions with better outcomes with the tech that works for them.
  • For investors and partners, it means a stronger platform strategy anchored in the future of biometric data, AI, and their applications that are rapidly scaling.

The next five years of Divergence will be about intelligence, scale, depth, and impact. We will be focusing on key strategic initiatives such as:

  • Continuing to refine AI- and ML-driven insights that help clinicians personalize care with precision and depth.
  • Expanding immersive experiences and games on mobile platforms to create the most engaging biofeedback and neurofeedback experiences the industry has ever seen.
  • Supporting multi-modal biofeedback across even more sensors to further expand the power of the connected mobile platform.
  • Growing our partnerships with clinics, research institutions, and wellness platforms to broaden the reach to parallel markets.
  • Pushing forward on our vision: becoming the most insightful global platform for connected biometrics and human behavior.
